Radicondoli, the magic town

Il Vecchio Mulino is located in Radicondoli a wonderful place in the centre of Sienese Hills and is perfect for those of you who want to discover Tuscany’s main cities of cultural interest as well as its great food and wine locations. Radicondoli is a medieval town immersed in the Sienna countryside. Originally Radicondoli belonged to the counts Aldobrandeschi. Then, in 1230, it passed to the Republic of Siena and, notwithstanding many battles for its possession, in 1301 was definetively inglobed in the Siena territory. After the battle of Siena, Radicondoli became possession of Granducato di Toscana. Today Radicondoli has a population of 680 residents, it's forty-five minutes west of Siena, an hour south of Florence and three-and-a-half hours north of Rome. Some nearby villages and charming towns are San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, San Galgano, Volterra, Massa Marittima, Belforte and Colle Val d’Elsa. In addition to being well versed in the wisdom of the earth, Radicondoli is culturally in touch with both the old and new, from medieval celebrations and processions honoring saints and harvests to an annual summer theater and music festival founded by the late modern composer Luciano Berio, who lived in Radicondoli. Some of the special celebrations are: Primo Maggio (May 1); Festa di San Giovanni (third weekend in June); Festa della Madonna (last weekend of September); and Festa di San Simone e Giuda (Chestnut festival in late October).

Il Vecchio Mulino it's immersed in the magical area...Enjoy!
